Hawaii Electric Light Co. has scheduled a power outage in Napoopoo and Keei on from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday to allow crews to remove and replace a pole on lower Napoopoo Road.

The outage will affect about 140 customers from lower Napoopoo Road to Keei Beach. One lane will be closed to traffic from just south of the Napoopoo and Middle Keei roads junction. Motorists are asked to drive with caution through the construction area and expect delays of up to five minutes. An alternate route to the area is the Keala O Keawe Road to Puuhonua Road.

The interruption is necessary to ensure the safety of the crews while work is being performed. Affected customers are advised to keep refrigerator and freezer doors closed and unplug sensitive equipment. The company also recommends that customers depending on life support equipment make arrangements for a back-up power supply or transportation to a facility outside the affected area.
